About the event

Stormwater projects are often designed around drainage performance, water quality, erosion control, and NPDES requirements. However, projects involving culverts, bridges, channels, detention facilities, grading, fill, and other infrastructure may also affect FEMA-mapped floodplains, regulatory floodways, and Base Flood Elevations.

This workshop will explain the practical intersection between stormwater project delivery and FEMA floodplain compliance. Attendees will learn the differences between a No-Rise Certification, Conditional Letter of Map Revision, and Letter of Map Revision; identify project conditions that may trigger additional floodplain review; and understand how early coordination, modeling, survey data, and documentation can prevent delays and costly rework.

Using practical project scenarios, the session will highlight common breakdowns and provide a clear framework for incorporating FEMA map-change considerations into stormwater planning, design, construction, and project closeout.
