About the event
Sediment pre-treatment is a critical first step in stormwater treatment trains, capturing coarse debris, trash, and sediment—often generated by upstream erosion—before water reaches downstream systems. By removing eroded material at the source, typically at the curb or street level, it prevents clogging, reduces maintenance demands, and protects the performance of higher-cost infrastructure like biofiltration systems and underground vaults. It also helps limit the downstream impacts of erosion, such as habitat degradation and altered flow patterns. Effective pre-treatment extends the lifespan of treatment assets, improves overall water quality, and creates more resilient, efficient, and cost-effective stormwater systems.
