With the advent of the California Water Board’s 2022 Construction General Permit, some substantial changes were needed to the Water Board’s SMARTS online permitting platform. WGR’s John Teravskis will be interviewing Brandon Roosenboom who is the Lead Staff Person for the Construction General Permit, Matt Shimizu who is the Lead Staff Person for SMARTS, and Patrick Otsuji who is the Program Manager for the Industrial and Construction General Permits and one of the original developers for SMARTS. Water Board staff will provide an overview of recent changes made to SMARTS, including incorporation of TMDLs, post-construction requirements, and the new CGP annual reporting features. Matt Shimizu will identify and address the five most frequent questions they receive at the SMARTS help desk. There will be time for Q&A’s from our live Zoom audience.
