Across the country, sediment basins and perimeter controls come under scrutiny when discharges occur. Many are constructed exactly to plan yet still underperform during real storm events. In many regions, these BMPs are relied upon more heavily than their hydrologic design can support. This session examines the design assumptions, stormwater pressures, and field realities that lead to performance gaps and provides practical strategies to improve treatment effectiveness and strengthen compliance defensibility.
