Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services consists of two Stormwater organizations that represent Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte. County Storm Water developed the Flood Information Notification System (FINS) which provides real-time rainfall, stream, and reservoir data to the area.  City of Charlotte also utilizes FINS to monitor the high hazard dams which are managed by City Storm Water Services.  The first part of the presentation will provide an overview of the FINS and discuss how real-time streamflow and rain gauge data are utilized to identify flood impacts and provide flood warnings using solutions such as real-time inundation mapping and predictive flood modeling.  The second part of the presentation will discuss how the FINS system is used to monitor high hazard dams, along with an overview of City Storm Water’s Dam Safety Program.
