About the event
The concepts of Low Impact Development (LID) and Green Infrastructure (GI) have been the goals of municipalities and developers for several years, but implementation has been limited. There are a variety of reasons for this lagging implementation including enforcement of outdated standard specifications, claims of cost increases, and a construction industry that is driven by large material providers steering designs towards their products. However, advancements in technologies and proven performance of LID/GI systems are changing how projects are designed and developed. This program will address the core concepts of Low Impact Development and Green Infrastructure including Decentralized Treatment Systems, Infiltration Systems, Biofiltration versus Bioretention Systems, Permeable Surfacing, and Filtration Systems. This program will address both why some systems fail while other systems succeed in providing the desired result.
