About the event
Building community resilience and restoring water resources takes more than technical solutions. It requires local leaders and community members to understand the impacts of their land and water decisions and to work together toward practical, shared goals. A non-traditional approach to achieving this is through gameplay. This session introduces The Watershed Game, an interactive role-playing simulation (game) that sparks conversation and collaboration around flood resilience and water quality, including a focus on pollution reduction from eroding sediment. The game is designed to help local leaders and residents build community resilience and improve water quality through collaborative decision-making and strategic land-use planning. During this session, we will focus on the Coast Model of the game, with the objective of using limited financial resources to reduce sediment to levels that meet a clean water goal while improving community resilience to flooding.
