About the event

Two pioneering passive treatment projects in California demonstrate the effectiveness and versatility of passive treatment technologies and highlight the importance of proper design and implementation. The first project, a large homebuilding development in northern California, faced steep slopes, limited space, and high-flow open channels. The second project, an urban development in southern California, required dewatering clay-laden water during foundation excavation, with minimal space for mixing, reacting, and floc collection. With collaborative design and implementation, both projects successfully reduced turbidity and maintained compliant levels throughout the 2023-2024 rainy season, showcasing the value of passive treatment technology in addressing complex stormwater challenges.
