About the event
Because enhanced street sweeping has been scientifically proven to be the first line of defense in reducing stormwater pollution, the National Municipal Stormwater Alliance (NMSA) has launched a major initiative called Clean Streets = Cleaner Waters (CS=CW). Please join Roger Sutherland, Ranger Kidwell Ross, and Dr. Andrew Sheerin in learning more about the work underway. Action items to be discussed include:
• Providing a platform for credible and robust technology verification in the street sweeping industry for stormwater pollution reduction.
• Creating a more consistent regulatory crediting landscape for street sweeping as a stormwater practice.
• Driving awareness of the value of skilled street sweeping and power sweeper operators in addressing stormwater pollution.
• Creating a pathway to clear and practical metrics to quantify the capture of pollutants removed from roadways, parking lots, and other paved surfaces.
• Developing new technologies and improving existing ones that can simulate, prioritize, and optimize street sweeping operations in the context of capturing stormwater pollutants.
• Promoting holistic approaches to effective street sweeping programs when using these technologies as a non-structural stormwater practice.
• Collecting, organizing, curating, and sharing research information and data on street sweeping for stormwater management.
