The ABC Stormwater District came together in 2009 when Austintown, Boardman, and Canfield realized they were all dealing with the same growing problem. In Boardman Township, limited funding made it difficult to take on the increasing number of stormwater issues. Years of development and flooding had also made it clear that stormwater didn’t stop at township lines—and neither could the solution. By teaming up, they created a shared way to fund projects and tackle these issues together, turning what had been a constant challenge into a more coordinated, forward‑moving effort. This collaboration ultimately helped secure $42 million in funding for a major flood mitigation project in Boardman, highlighting the power of working together.
